Hi, I’m Grethel "Alexandra" Juárez
About Me
I am a prospective graduate student seeking programs to pursue Ph.D.-level research on mathmatical modeling of infectious diseases. My long-term career is to become an infectious disease modeler. I am motivated to promote global health, address sampling biases, promote intersectionality, and tackle disparities in my career. Currently, I work as a research assistant investigating vocal development in parrots and songbirds in the BIRDS (Behavior Integrated with Data Science) Lab with Dr. Grace Smith-Vidaurre at Michigan State University. Last year, I became the first in my family to earn a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Biostatistics from Loyola University Chicago. Aside from research, I have a strong passion for music, particularly as a singer-songwriter. I have performed at various venues around Chicago since the age of 9 and am currently in a funk-fusion band with my siblings.
